HULL Fair was only just rolling out of town and Halloween is still a fortnight away. But visitors to a Cottingham garden centre were treated to an early glimpse of Santa this weekend. Southwood Garden Centre, off the Parkway, in Cottingham, invited the man in red to launch its charity Christmas display. More than 600 children enjoyed activities, which had both a Halloween and Christmas theme. Jane Jones, who owns the centre with her husband Bob, said: "All the children were given a prize for coming in fancy dress.
"It is the third time we have done the Halloween event. We are selling Halloween and Christmas things, so we thought why not combine the weekend to celebrate both and launch the charity display?"
