Summary
Early music band York Waits pay another visit to The Toll Gavel United Church, Beverley, on Thursday, from 7.30pm. For this special programme, the five-strong group tell the story of the beginning of the world by playing ancient instruments such as shawm, sackbut, recorder, crumhorn, harp, lute, fiddle and hurdy gurdy. Featuring singer Deborah Catterall, the Waits start the concert with traditional English carols that tell the story of the creation of the Earth. The Waits, who recreate the band of their home city as it was in Tudor times, will then perform songs and music which reflect the episodes of the Christmas story, including the visits of the shepherds and the Magi.
Tickets are Pounds 12 for adults, Pounds 10 for concessions and are available from the Beverley Tourist Information Office.
