PEOPLE are being urged to look out for vulnerable neighbours after an east Hull pensioner died in a house fire. Arthur Maskell, 70, was killed in the blaze due to a discarded cigarette.

His home in Bradford Avenue was gutted and he died before firefighters arrived, even though the smoke alarm was working. New figures have revealed two thirds of accidental fire fatalities since 2005 have been the result of smoking in the home.
