HULL: The city council's ruling Labour group was meeting today to hear details of a proposed new budget for the authority. While in opposition, Labour mapped out an alternative budget to the Liberal Democrats plans to make Pounds 65 million of cuts and shed almost 1,400 posts over the next 12 months. After winning last month's council elections, Labour's new-look budget plans have been pieced together with the aim of saving as many threatened jobs as possible and reducing the scale of the spending cutbacks.
