HULL Wasps got the New Year off to a good start with a comfortable 79-60 victory at Oldham Titans. A flying opening quarter, which included a 27-9 run in favour of Wasps, effectively sealed the win for the away side and gave player-coach Matt Fawcett the chance to rest players ahead of a busy weekend.

Despite the Titans staging a late come-back in the final quarter, cutting the gap to five points at one stage, Wasps managed to hold on for a vital victory.
