A Fire alarm had been switched off at a hostel where a man accused of murdering Aaron Smith was staying before a blaze broke out there, a court heard.

Manager of Beverley Road hostel Ash Grove, John Gwilliam told a jury at Hull Crown Court he discovered the fire alarm was off and reactivated it on June 7 last year.
