EAST YORKS: Plans to develop clean coal technology at Hatfield Colliery, near Doncaster, will have economic benefits for the entire region, according to Rosie Winterton, minister for Yorkshire and The Humber.

According to Mrs Winterton, Yorkshire is uniquely placed to lead the way in clean coal because of its vicinity to the North Sea, its existing coal-fired power stations and its remaining coal reserves.
