Summary


The Chronicles of Narnia:The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe (2005) BBC1, Christmas Eve, 5.50pm Four children are evacuated from London during the Second World War, and sent to a rural manor house where they discover a secret entrance to the mystical world of Narnia. There, they help vanquish the wicked White Witch, whose curse has gripped the land in perpetual winter. Fantasy adventure based on the book by CS Lewis, with Tilda Swinton and Georgie Henley.

Hairspray (2007) Channel 4, Christmas Eve, 7.15pm Musical remake of the comedy about Tracy, an overweight teenager in 1960s Baltimore, who dreams of appearing on a TV dance show. However, a jealous rival and her scheming mother are determined to destroy her ambition - especially when Tracy tries to fight racism in the community. Starring Nikki Blonsky, Michelle Pfeiffer, Christopher Walken, James Marsden, Queen Latifah and John Travolta in drag as the heroine's mother.
