Dagger Lane Operatic Society: The group's new chairman Olga Li La- Vigars would like to welcome members old and new to The Dagger Lane Society. Its new objective is to sing as a choir and perform charity concerts. They are a very friendly group and hope people can join them for their spring concert season at the Unitarian Church in Park Street, Hull, on Mondays at 8pm. Written and directed by Bob Long, the pantomime will be staged from Thursday, March 10, to Saturday, March 12, at 7pm in Market Weighton School, Spring Road. It features Gena Charlton as Aladdin, with husband David as the genie, and their two children will also be making an appearance. Vixen 101's Theatre Hour co-host, Tony Barker, is one of a number of guests from the community. Tickets cost Pounds 4 to Pounds 6 and are available from the post office and the News Shop in High Street, Market Weighton.
Hull Bach Choir (HBC): The HBC is performing Handel's oratorio Athalia, a piece last performed in Hull 36 years ago, on Saturday, March 5, at 7.30pm in Trinity Methodist Church, Cottingham Road, Hull. Tickets cost Pounds 5 to Pounds 11 and can be bought at the door or reserved in advance on 01482 654567 Hull Savoyards: THE Savs are looking for new Yeomen to appear in their June production of Gilbert and Sullivan's The Yeomen Of The Guard. If you fancy joining this long-established and friendly group, you can pop along to one of their rehearsals - Thursdays at 7.30pm, at Bricknell Avenue Methodist Church in Hull - and be prepared to belt out a song of any description.
