Firms Paying for Energy in Advance

HULL: Thousands of small firms in the UK - including those in this region - are being forced to pay for energy months in advance, energy regulator Ofgem said. Research shows Britain's big energy companies are forcing as many as 250,000 small businesses to pay for their energy up to seven months in advance.

Jct600's 'Oarsome' Event

HULL: City car dealership JCT600 will play host to amateur rowers Alex Macdonald and Luke Grose on Saturday to help raise awareness of their record-breaking charity challenge. The two athletes are taking part in the 3,000 mile Woodvale Atlantic Rowing Race in a bid to beat the current 40-day record, under the name Team JCT600.

Growth Reveals Pwc Is 'Holding Its Nerve' ; Global Financial Firm Reports a Three Per Cent Increase in Turnover

THE Hull office of Pricewaterhouse-Coopers (PwC) has helped the global accountancy firm "hold its nerve" in difficult trading conditions. The branch, based in Two Humber Quays, Wellington Street West, Hull city centre, reported a three per cent increase in top-line growth in the year to June, helping the firm's northern operation achieve a turnover of Pounds 168m.

House Builders' Share Prices Up ; Confidence Grows for Victoria Dock Developer

THE firm behind the Victoria Dock development has revealed a four per cent increase in its share price as the market picks up. Bellway - which is also a partner in the regeneration of east Hull - joined other house builders in reporting a profit.

E YORKS: Yorkshire Forward, the regional development agency for Yorkshire and the Humber, has signed up to the Prompt Payment Code. The code is a Government initiative designed to provide suppliers with clear guidance on payment procedures.
