The 18-year-old from Bransholme made history by returning to Kettering and winning the national youth title again, beating England youth captain Shaun Griffiths in the final.

A FIELD of 58 juniors representing16 contested the Hornsea Junior The par 72 seaside course challenge. For much of the day it seemed early leader, five handicap home player Arachai Haorang, would take the honours with a gross 74.

Shimwell Lands Northern Seniors' Title

HESSLE'S Rod Shimwell bagged himself an early 59th birthday present as he claimed the English Golf Union's Northern Counties Seniors' Championship. Playing off a handicap of three at Chester Golf Club last week, the 36-hole competition attracted more than 120 players with handicaps of 10 and below, drawn from the six Northern Counties of Cheshire, Lancashire, Cumbria, Northumberland, Durham and Yorkshire.
